Playing catch up

So yes, I have been slacking in getting some posts up!  It seems like May has just flown by.  Actually, the whole year has.  I can't even believe that June is just around the weekend.  To celebrate the long weekend, Mom and I are going to NYC tomorrow evening along with some of the HR girls I work with.  We will be there Thursday night through Monday evening.  I haven't been to NYC since I danced in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in 2003, so I'm anxious to get back and sightsee.  Plus, when I was there before, I was in dance practice the whole time except for like a day and a half so this time will be a lot more relaxed (and warmer).

On a side note, Dad, Chip and I got Mom and iPad 2 as a combined Mother's Day/Birthday present.  It is sooo awesome.  Adam and I got the first iPad in October but the new one (of course) has a 2-way camera so you can FaceTime with other people who also have iGadgets.  I went to WV 2 weekends ago for a quick trip and to help Mom get her iPad set up.  Adam was in MI that weekend so we got to FaceTime and see each other :-)  From then, I was hooked!  My loving wonderful boyfriend surprised me with an iPad 2 when we got back!!!  He had bought it in MI over the weekend and had it all set up and ready to go when he got back to TN.   Isn't he the best?!?!?  So, all week we've been facetiming with our moms and my friends :-)  For some reason, he doesn't think it's as cool as I do haha

Pure Barre = Pure Burn

So, for the past 2 weeks I have been going to a new "workout" class.  To call it a workout is an understatement.  I have NEVER done anything like this before - from the moment the class starts to when it ends it is nonstop, hard core muscle attacking repititions.  I often find myself thinking it's like a cult because the pictures on their website and around the studio have all these waif like girls with muscles in similiar clothes in the "zone." Then, lo and behold, I stumbled across another blogger who also reffered to it as a cult... kinda funny and her article is worth a read - I couldn't describe it better myself!

Article about my new "cult"

So far, I've kept up my routine of going Sunday, Tuesday and Thursdays and I have to say I am starting to see some results.  I have to keep reminding myself that it's good for me and worth not getting home from work until 7pm!  To see if there's a studio near you check out their website.

Challenge #12 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #12--Make a Scrapbook Page, Card, or other with a Kid's theme!

Wooo this was the last one today.  Here's my sad attempt at using a page of vellum.  Live and learn I suppose!

Challenge #11 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #11--Make a project and use Pink, Green and Black in it!

Challenge #10 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #10--Make a layout or card with a pet in it!

I loved this challenge because as you may know, I am in love with my 2 furbaby kittycats!  This has to be one of my favorite layouts I've ever done and it took FOREVER to make!

Challenge #9 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #9--Use Glitz, Glam and Glitter in your project!

So, of course, I had to bling out a Hello Kitty with some glitter and glitz!

Challenge #8 - National Scrapbook Day

So I started working on the last few challenges this evening.  They were really rushed but here they are!

#8 was to make a summer themed project so I made this cute lil pink card

Challenge #7 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #7--Make a Scrapbook Page!

I did this quick "before" and "after" of one of the bedrooms in the house.  I thought it was cute that I was able to find a standing mirror like the one in the bedroom on the Forever Young cricut cartridge.

Challenge #6 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #6--Incorporate a TAG into your project!

This was a fun page to make.  The background paper is actually a street map of Cleveland, TN.  I cut the state out using 50 States and added the "Sold" tag.

Challenge #5 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #5- Any 3-D item

No, you didn't miss #4 - I didn't do it.. it's for Mother's Day and I already mailed my gifts home :-)

So, for my 3-D item.. I made a dog leash hanger for Mr. Henderson

Challenge #3 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #3--Make a card, scrapbook page, or 3-D item with a breast cancer theme.

These pictures were taken the day I donated my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  An organization that makes wigs for women who lose their hair to cancer.

Challenge #2 - National Scrapbook Day

Challenge #2--Make a card or scrapbook page using Kraft cardstock.
I was inspired to work on my TN 2008 Scrapbook since I've now moved back to TN .. which makes me 3 years behind ... haha oh well, one day I MAY get caught up... but my picture taking ratio to scrapbook pages created is way out of wack!

I LOVE this cardstock, and I think it made a lovely page :-)

PS - for all you creepers out there.. this isn't where I live anymore!

National Scrapbooking Day!

Well, for scrappers out there Saturday was a fun day!  Scrapbooking has earned it's "own" holiday - National Scrapbook Day!  Too bad it's not during the week and we get off work to celebrate! hah  One of my all time favorite bloggers - My Pink Stamper - issues a challenge every hour for 12 hours to encourage people to get creative and scrap the day away.  Saturday was a little crazy around the house with Adam's things being moved in so I didn't get to scrapbook on Saturday, but My Pink Stamper has extended the deadline to submit the "challenges" until tomorrow.  I found a little bit of time to escape to my scrapbook lair and participate in a few of the challenges.

Challenge #1 - Anything Cupcake!

So, I made a cupcake birthday card

The Aftermath and Welcome Distractions

In the days since the tornadoes there's been so much to just take in.  It still doesn't seem real that it happened HERE.  Typically you see things like this on the news happing around the world and while you feel sad for those affected it doesn't "linger" per say.  Here you are reminded of it everywhere you look, every channel, every newspaper, every person you talk to.  It really hit me today when I saw one of the weather report outs that showed a map with where every tornado hit and how intense the winds were, width, etc.  The Ooltewah tornado stopped less than 5000 feet from my house.  It was a direct path and had it not stopped I would have had significant damage.  To see the map is so sobering.  I just can't imagine - makes you realize how many things in life  - and people - you take for granted.

While all this has been going on here, life is still going on everywhere else.  Friday was the Royal wedding.  I was one of the billions that got up at 4am to watch the events unfold.  It was a welcome distraction for sure.  I like many others had been waiting to see the real life Fairy Tale take place.  I mean who doesn't want to be a Princess??  I thought everything was perfect, beautiful and "simply" done to reflect the couple's tastes while also keeping up all the royal traditions.  The only thing I would critique was Kate's bouquet - it was SOOO pathetic looking!  I think she should have had something bigger and more "bloomy."  Her little sister was stunning as well.  I'd say she'll be hitting the aisle sometime soon the way she rocked her dresses.  I thought it was nice too that her brother got to have a part in the ceremony.

The countdown is underway for Adam's move here!  If all goes as planned he will be here for good Friday night.  Our whole relationship has been knowing that the other would be relocating soon so now it's such peace of mind to know that we are going to be together without the black clouds!!!  I haven't seen him since Easter so I am anxiously awaiting his arrival. :-)
