Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #276 - Things with Wings

Hello from babyland bliss!

Our little man is 4 weeks old today - how is that possible?!  I have been knee deep in getting thank you cards sent and wanted to share my latest card creation - the airplane theme is a nod to Daddy's private pilot license and to baby boy's nursery.  My baby thank you is also perfect timing for this week's challenge of "things with wings"!

It took forever to put these all together - I made probably 50 in all - it wasn't so bad except for the tiny accents on the plane!  To create, I used the Baby Steps cartridge to cut the onesie and the Cricut Lite Cartridge B is for Boy to get the airplane.  The "thank you" stamp is from the My Pink Stamper collection.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Party Invites

Because I don't have enough to do, the husband and I have decided to have a Christmas party at our house next Sunday.  We will probably have 16-20 people.  I wanted to do something fun because he has just resigned from the only company he's worked since graduating college to take on a new opportunity in a few weeks!  It's been a very stressful few months around our house.  I'm so happy for him and hope this new opportunity is everything he's looking for.  That being said, we needed some fun, festive invites!  I've decided on a "Santa" theme and this quickly came to be the invite...

I used the Santa cut from the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge; martini Christmas ribbon I had on hand; cardstock from MAMBI Christmas pad and a My Pink Stamper Stamp.  Then, I printed the party details on lime green to adhere to the inside.

Wedding Card Preservation

It's been a year since our wedding and I'm still trying to figure out how I want to preserve some of our keepsakes, cards and mementos.  It's mind-blowing that we've already been married 13 months!  This past weekend I spent some time and finally tackled the stacks of wedding cards that have just been collecting dust in my scrapbook room and here's what I did...

These are mostly the cards from the actual wedding - all of the shower cards, etc were already sorted out.

I utilized the 12x12 envelope pages from the Project Life collection - LOVE these - and sorted the cards into cards from the actual wedding day guests and cards from gifts that were mailed to us before/after the wedding.

Voila!  The envelope seals nicely and the cards lay so flat in the envelope and are protected from dust, getting folded, etc.  Plus, there's a pocket on the front if you want to slide a 4x6 card in it to journal/label what's in the envelope.
Here's a side shot of my 3 envelopes.  I plan to add some more envelopes to this binder and make it more of the thicker items I want to keep from the wedding so I don't make the actual picture scrapbooks of the wedding/pre-wedding to thick.
You can see in this view here there's a smaller size envelope in the front of the larger 12x12 ones - I put the cards Adam and I exchanged before the wedding in here just to keep them separate.
Love the end result!  This has been a great way for me to store cards, larger items and I can totally see using this for baby cards, etc in the coming years.

What did you do with all your wedding cards?  Any fun ideas out there to share?

Fiesta Store and some Random-itis

This past weekend, I made a mad dash back to WV for a friend from college's wedding.  I drove to Princeton Friday night and stayed at my parents.  Saturday morning my mom (aka my wedding date) and I made a little detour and went by the hospital in Charleston to see Lauren after she had Baby Logan.  Then, we made our way on up to Morgantown... after of course, a stop at the Everything Fiesta! store in Flatwoods.  I have always loved this store and have stopped their countless times on my many trips to and from Morgantown.  When I first started getting into Fiesta, I would stop there and buy 1 or 2 things and have slowly built up my collection.  Such a fun, beautiful, bright store!!

I wrote down some things I want to make sure to add to our wedding registry and also grabbed a few seasonal items that were on sale:

I think their Christmas Fiesta is a little on the plain side but decided to get a few of the serving side pieces to use with my everyday Fiesta during the holidays.  I don't understand why they put the tree on the bottom of the plates and then it's just covered up with food!  Regardless, it will make up a cute table come the holidays.

I also picked up this large mixing bowl to use as a fruit bowl.  I love the pop of color it adds to my kitchen!  It also tells me I need to get some more fruit!
This is the last purchase I made there.  This bowl was marked down to a fab price because it's a VT color!  They had a whole section of items that were maroon and orange they were clearancing out.  I mean really, what were they thinking with the store being so close to WVU?!  Oh well, love the shape/size of this guy, he'll be a nice addition!

I'm finally getting ready to pack up all my Christmas decor but wanted to share a few last things from this season!  First, is how I have displayed our Christmas cards the last 2 years.  I picked up this little Christmas tree holder at Ace Hardware of all places last year.  I like seeing it "fill up" as the days go by in December.  Only downside is that a lot of cute cards/pictures get covered up.

Here's a snapshot of our 2012 Christmas card:  I used one of our engagement pics on the cover and some pictures from Christmas 2011 on the inside and back.  No wasted space on our card!

And, to end on a sweet note, my amazing fiance surprised me with this beautiful bouquet of flowers last night after work!  Isn't he the BEST?!  I think I shall marry him ;-)

Random Cards

Just a quick post to share some cards I made for some special gifts this season!  Our friends had their 3rd child a few days ago and didn't find out the gender in advance.  I wanted to go ahead and have the card made to go with the gift so I went with a neutral color scheme and square size.

Adam's sister and her girls moved into a new house and we wanted to get them a little housewarming gift.  I made the cupcake card using the Cricut Craft Room software and "welded" 2 cupcakes together.  I think I'll make all my gift tags like this next year; it added the perfect touch to their already very girlie gift wrap!  I actually used the free cartridge that came loaded on my Expression 2 to cut the cupcake - I believe it's called Cricut Cartridge American Alphabet

Thanksgiving so soon??

How is it possible that Thanksgiving is only 3 short days away?!  Where did this year go?  I am really looking forward to my parents and grandma coming down for a few days!  Plus, I get to meet my new "sister" as my mom likes to call her... she finally got a new puppy!  Her name is Ginger and she's an apricot teacup poodle - she's 3 months old and 1.9 lbs.  I can't wait to see that little ball of fur!!  Here's some of the pics Mom's sent of her.. we Facetime every night :-)

This is one of my favorites!  Ginger snuggled down in between all of her "babies" and mom covered them all up for a nap.

I had a pretty mellow weekend.  Adam worked over 100 hours from Sunday-Saturday.. he's basically working for free at this point!  It's a shame he doesn't get paid overtime, he would have made a nice chunk of change, that boy is way to dedicated to his job, but I suppose that's part of the reason I love him!  That being said, I was single-moming it with the furbabies.  We've discovered that Mason likes to sleep on Henderson's blanket with him at night, so sweet!

I had to take this picture of Henderson while Adam was at work.  Henderson willing put himself in his crate and was just giving me the most pathetic expression.  He looked so heart broken.

Who me, spoiled?
...and a couple quick cards!  I made the ballerina birthday card for a co-worker's daughter that turned 4.  She started dance lessons this fall so I also got her a cute little leotard.

I made myself do something other than "pink" for these shoe birthday cards.  I like the different color scheme!

Baby Boy Cards

We are getting ready to have a baby boy boom here in the next few months!  I haven't made baby cards before so thought I would give it a go!  I think these turned out adorable, but I'm kind of partial!

Birthday Card

I'm going to a birthday party this weekend and needed a card.  I was feeling pretty lazy and uninspired and really thinking about just buying the card... but I mustered up some energy (and creativity) and whipped up this cute little creation.  I used my Cricut, Cuttlebug, My Pink Stamper Stamp Set and Storybook Cricut cartridge.  Enjoy!
